Overnight lane closures to impact travel in Okaloosa, Walton counties

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties should prepare for overnight lane closures and potential traffic delays starting Sunday, April 27, as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues construction and maintenance work on U.S. 98, State Road 85, the Mid-Bay Bridge, and other major routes.

OKALOOSA COUNTY 

— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
U.S. 98 lane closures are planned between Ferry Road and Pier Road in Fort Walton Beach, as well as on Santa Rosa Boulevard from Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, April 27–May 1, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

— Interstate 10 Resurfacing
Alternating lane closures on I-10 between mile markers 50 and 56 are scheduled from April 27–May 1, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., for paving operations.

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing
Intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, are expected from April 27 to May 1, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., for paving and thermoplastic striping.

— State Road 85 Resurfacing & Safety Improvements
Nighttime lane closures are planned on State Road 85 between Hospital Drive and U.S. 90 from April 27 to May 1, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for concrete work and paving operations.

— Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation
Intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge are scheduled from April 27–May 1, between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., for construction activities.

— State Road 85 Turn Lane Operations
Intermittent lane closures west of Hugo Lane are expected on Monday, April 28, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for turn lane operations.

— U.S. 90 Routine Bridge Inspection
Motorists may encounter intermittent westbound lane closures east of State Road 85 on Thursday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for routine bridge inspection.

WALTON COUNTY 

— U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project
Lane closures are expected between south of I-10 and U.S. 90 from April 27–May 1, between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., for construction activities. Additionally, two northbound turn lanes at the U.S. 90 intersection in DeFuniak Springs will be temporarily closed, with one lane available for left and right turns. This configuration will remain through mid-June.

— U.S. 331 Bridge Rehabilitation
Intermittent lane closures over Choctawhatchee Bay are scheduled from April 28–May 1, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., for bridge repairs.

All construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. FDOT urges drivers to use caution in work zones, especially at night, and to be alert for workers and equipment entering or exiting the roadway.
