October 19 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa includes another death

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 5,820, 27 since yesterday morning. The death toll in Okaloosa now is 129, one more death reported since yesterday.

Statewide, 1,707 new cases were reported since yesterday.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 788.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is 319, two since yesterday. The FDOH reports there currently are 19 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Okaloosa County School District suffers its worst week yet for transmission of COVID-19

According to the FDOH, there were 269 tests returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 27 positives. The daily positivity rate is 10.04 percent, up from 9.15 percent yesterday.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate was 9.91 percent for the week ending Oct. 17, up from 7.79 percent the previous week, according to the FDOH.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 11.9 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.

Currently, Florida is testing 1.1 people in 1,000, ranking it 48th in the U.S. for testing according to data provided by Johns Hopkins.

  • Fort Walton Beach, 1,869, four since yesterday
  • Destin, 722, three since yesterday
  • Niceville, 724, seven since yesterday
  • Crestview, 1,148, four since yesterday
  • Shalimar, 268, one since yesterday
  • Mary Esther, 281, two since yesterday
  • Eglin AFB, 85, no change
  • Laurel Hill, 55, one since yesterday
  • Baker, 120, one less since yesterday
  • Holt, 41, no change
  • Valparaiso, 64, no change
  • Hurlburt Field, 11, no change
  • Milligan, 2, no change
  • Cinco Bayou, 35, no change
  • Duke Field, 1, no change
  • Missing, 346, six since yesterday
