NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville will celebrate Arbor Day with a community event focused on trees, conservation, and environmental stewardship on Friday, January 16, 2026.
According to the City of Niceville, the Arbor Day celebration will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lannie L. Corbin Municipal Complex and will feature educational activities, exhibits, and a tree giveaway.
A tree giveaway is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the City of Niceville. The event will also include a reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation.
Educational booths and activities will be available throughout the event, with participation from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Office, Master Gardeners, local beekeepers, and the Florida Forest Service, the City of Niceville said. A kids’ craft table and an Ask-the-Expert station will also be offered.
Arbor Day began in 1872 as a national effort to encourage the planting and care of trees. The observance highlights the role trees play in providing clean air, shade, wildlife habitat, and long-term environmental benefits for communities.
City officials said the Arbor Day event is open to the public and designed to promote environmental awareness and stewardship for residents of all ages.
