NICEVILLE, Fla. — Sean Gordon, a biology instructor at Collegiate High School in Niceville, has been named a 2025 Charter School Champion of the Year by the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools.

Mr Gordon is one of only nine teachers across the state to receive the honor, which recognizes educators who inspire students to reach high achievement levels within Florida’s public charter school system.
The award covers the 2024–2025 school year and is presented annually to outstanding teachers, school leaders, board members, pioneers, and innovators in the charter school community.
According to nomination materials, Charter School Champions “are exceptional teachers who inspire their students to reach high achievement levels at their charter schools.”

The 2025 honorees represent a diverse group of educators and leaders from kindergarten through high school across Florida. In total, the Florida Consortium named 18 individuals as Champions of the Year in five categories.
“Congratulations to Sean Gordon and to all of the 2025 Charter School Champions of the Year, and congratulations to their schools and communities,” said Robert Haag, President of the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools.
“Each of the winners helps to deliver quality education to Florida’s charter school students. They are important contributors to Florida’s hugely successful charter school movement.”
Mr Gordon joins fellow teacher honorees from schools in Tampa, Hollywood, Chiefland, Oakland, Paisley, Orange Park, Tallahassee, and Clearwater.
Also recognized this year was Heidi LoCicero of Destin, who serves as a board member at Destin High School. She was named a 2025 Charter School Champion of the Year in the Governing Board Members category.
