Niceville Library Activities Calendar
The Niceville Public Library features a variety of activities for all ages. Here is the activities calendar for the month of May 2016:

May 4
Scrabble Anyone? – The Niceville Public Library will be set up with Scrabble boards for the adult community to play and enjoy on Wednesday and May 18 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Please keep in mind that you don’t have to be an expert to participate and all skill levels are welcome. So bring your friends or come on your own and join in the fun! See flyer for more details.

May 4-6
Children’s Storytime – Storytime for children ages 3 – 5 years will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 am.
May 4 and 6 – “Children’s Book Week”
May 11 and 13 – “Space Stories”
May 18 and 20 – “Berries and Blossoms”
May 5
Baby Bookworms – This lapsit program consists of music, stories and rhymes especially chosen to build the bond between you and your child. The program is suited for children from birth to age 3. Please meet in YS program room 9:30 a.m. for Prewalkers, and 10:30 a.m. for Walkers on Thursday.
May 5
Teen Space – Remember every Tuesday is Quiet/Study day In the Teen Space. Program Ideas? Stop by The Teen Office or e-mail Ms. Karen at khouston@okaloosa.lib.fl.us. ***Get in the Game – Summer Reading Program for Teens Kicks off on Wednesday, June 8th at 1:00 p.m. with a Movie Event in the Teen Space. Read for prizes and participate in the special events throughout the summer!
No Teen Advisory Meeting this month
Thur., May 5 – Wii Gaming at 2:30 p.m.
Thur., May 12 – Popcorn and Movie at 2:30 p.m.
Wed., May 18 – Teen Outdoor Get Together at 2:45 p.m.
Fri., May 20 – Wii Gaming at 2:30 p.m.
Thur., May 26 – Anime Day at 2:30 p.m.
May 10
Color Yourself Calm!! Join us for this free program for adults ages 18 +. This program will be in the Library on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Supplies will be provided as well as light refreshments and relaxing music. Space is limited so registration is required. Reading Education Assistance Dogs – Reading is a wonderful opportunity for a child to build his or her imagination and begin to build skills for his or her future. Libraries are a wonderful resource, and Therapy Dogs can be a great way to help children discover how much fun their local library can be. Over time your child’s reading ability and confidence can improve, which will make them enjoy reading even more. Registration is required. Please sign up in YS program room. Reading will be on Tuesday at 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
May 11-13

Book Club Girls’ Edition – Close Out Social – For girls ages 9 – 12 years. To insure we have ample supplies for everyone, please register in YS or call to reserve your seat 279-4863 ext. 1514. Registration is required. Saturday at 10 a.m. – 12 noon.

Legos at the Library – Friday from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. for ages 7 – 12 in our Youth Services program room. This month our theme will be Star Wars. Space is limited so registration is required. Please sign up in Youth Services or call 279-4863 ext. 1514.
May 21
Family Movie – The Library Youth Services will be hosting a movie for ages 6 + in the YS program room on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
May 26

Local Author Discussion and Signing – The Friends of the Niceville Library invite you to join local Author, Linda Sealy Knowles. Linda will focus her discussion on the following topics:
  • “If she can write, So Can YOU!”
  • Writers are not “born,” they are self-made.
  • Focus on your five senses.
  • How to share your writing with the world.

This free library program will be held in the Niceville Library on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Seating is limited. Please call the Library at 279-4863 ext. 1504 or email Lora at lglass@okaloosa.lib.fl.us to reserve a seat. Author will also have copies of her books available for purchase and will be glad to sign them prior to the program. See flyer for more details.
