NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Niceville Police Department announced that Sergeant Kristin Pond and K-9 Kodi earned multiple top placements at the 2026 USPCA Region 1 Field Trials in Orange Beach, Alabama, including a perfect vehicle search score and an invitation to compete at nationals.

During the first day of competition, K-9 Kodi earned a perfect score of 100 in vehicle searching.
Because of Kodi’s overall placements and scores throughout the trials, he has officially been invited to compete at the National Trials later this year, according to the Niceville Police Department.
Sergeant Pond and K-9 Kodi also placed 2nd overall in Narcotics Detection with a score of 199.17 out of 200 points.
They also earned 2nd Place in Outdoor Search. The department said all three top placements in that category received perfect scores of 100, and final standings were determined by time.

In team competition, Sergeant Pond and K-9 Kodi partnered with Officer Brennan Giles and K-9 Sadie to take 1st Place in the 2 Man Intra-Departmental Narcotics Detector Team event.
In addition to their field trial success, Sergeant Pond and K-9 Kodi were honored with the 2025 USPCA Case of the First Quarter (Narcotics) and the 2025 USPCA Case of the Second Quarter (Narcotics).
The Niceville Police Department said the accomplishments reflect extensive training, dedication, and a continued commitment to keeping the community safe.
