FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County has issued a water quality advisory for Marler Park after testing found elevated levels of Enterococcus bacteria.

According to DOH-Okaloosa, water samples collected on June 10 showed that the water at Marler Park, located at 1275 Santa Rosa Blvd., did not meet the recreational water quality criteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.
The department advises against all water-related activities at the park because of an increased risk of illness for swimmers. Officials said routine water quality monitoring found bacteria levels above those allowed under state guidelines.
The advisory will remain in effect until bacteria levels fall below the accepted health standard, according to the health department.
