FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce will honor Paul Singleton on June 24 as he celebrates attending his 2,000th Chamber event and his 93rd birthday.
The Paul Singleton Meet & Greet will take place from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Home2 Suites by Hilton at Freedom Tech Center, 1930 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach. A short program featuring special guest speakers will begin at 3:15 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.
According to the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, Mr Singleton’s attendance streak began in 1976 and spans nearly five decades. His record includes ribbon cuttings, Ambassador meetings, business expos, and other Chamber activities.
“50 years of attending Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce events is unparalleled — like Cal Ripken’s consecutive games played record in Major League Baseball,” said Ted Corcoran, President/CEO, Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.
“Paul’s legacy will never be matched. I’m also proud that we’ve had that many new businesses join our Chamber, requiring ribbon cuttings, so he could attend them. We named our ribbon-cutting scissors after Paul about 10 years ago, and he keeps showing up to every single one.”
The Chamber said Mr Singleton has documented his attendance through a personal running diary, making it possible to verify the milestone. Chamber officials described him as a longtime supporter of local businesses and community organizations.
Immediately following the meet-and-greet, the celebration will continue with the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Grow with Us Learning Academy at 4 p.m. at Freedom Tech Center. According to the Chamber, the event will add one more Chamber appearance to Mr Singleton’s total.
The Chamber said the celebration recognizes Mr Singleton’s decades of commitment to the businesses, organizations, and people who make the Fort Walton Beach community thrive.
