MARIANNA, Fla. — A 70-year-old Jackson County man has been convicted in federal court of trafficking methamphetamine in the Marianna area, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
Lorenzo Heatrice was found guilty by a federal jury of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and two separate counts of distribution and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, including one involving five grams and another involving 50 grams.
Mr Heatrice is said to have conspired with other known drug traffickers in the area between June 2023 and April 2024, distributing large quantities of methamphetamine into the community. Prosecutors said he sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on two separate occasions in September 2023.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorneys Jessica Etherton and Eric Welch are prosecuting the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 11, 2025, at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before Chief United States District Judge Mark E. Walker.
