March 18 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Thursday reported 38 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are eight new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 405 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 34,643. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 23,029, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,545.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 342, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 5,093 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,994,117. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 32,598.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 701, one more since the previous day. Currently, there are 14 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 540 test results returned in Okaloosa with 35 positives. The daily positivity rate is 6.48 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 7.9 percent for the week ending March 13, down from 11.26 percent the previous week.
