March 11 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Thursday reported 29 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are five new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 486 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 30,930. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 19,844, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,370.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 337, one more death since the previous report.

Statewide, 5,065 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,962,651. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 32,040.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 694, no change since the previous day. Currently, there are 18 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 545 test results returned in Okaloosa with 30 positives. The daily positivity rate is 5.5 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 11.26 percent for the week ending March 6, down from 12.22 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 6.9 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
