Man charged with DUI after crash with Okaloosa school bus

Fort Walton Beach, Fla. – A Fort Walton Beach man has been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and careless driving after being involved in a traffic accident with an Okaloosa County School District school bus, the Fort Walton Beach Police Department (FWBPD) said in a press release.

The FWBPD reports at 8:30 a.m. on Monday officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Mooney Rd NW and Chelsea Dr NW. The crash involved an Okaloosa County School bus, occupied with 26 students, and a white pickup truck, according to police.

One student sustained a minor injury, police said.

During the investigation of the crash, it was discovered the driver of the pickup, Michael Bouchard, 57, of Fort Walton Beach, was under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Bouchard was arrested for DUI and careless driving, the release said.
