OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties will encounter nighttime lane closures and other temporary traffic disruptions this week as crews perform construction and maintenance work.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter alternating lane closures on U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road, and on Santa Rosa Boulevard from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, from Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- The roadway west of the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center remains closed from U.S. 98 to just north of the roundabout, including a partial roundabout closure. The closure is expected to stay in place through mid-2026 while crews build the westbound bridge and approach. Access to the Convention Center remains open via Pier Road, while properties north of U.S. 98 can be reached via Santa Rosa Boulevard.
— State Road 85 Improvements from State Road 123 to Hospital Drive
Intermittent lane closures are planned on State Road 85 northbound from Shoal River Bridge to Interstate 10, Sunday through Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on southbound lanes from Interstate 10 to Shoal River Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
— Interstate 10 Resurfacing, East of Shoal River Bridge to West of State Road 285
Westbound drivers will experience intermittent daytime lane closures between mile markers 59 and 70 from Monday, October 20, through Thursday, October 23, between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. for paving operations.
— I-10 Eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvements
Beginning Monday, October 20, the truck parking area at the eastbound rest area near mile marker 59 will close for about 120 days. Passenger vehicle parking and restroom facilities will remain open.
State Road 293 Routine Bridge Inspections
Bridge inspections are scheduled at multiple locations, with intermittent lane closures:
- Over Deer Moss Creek (east of State Road 285) on Tuesday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Over Foxhead Branch (south of State Road 85) on Tuesday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Over Rocky Creek (north of State Road 20) on Wednesday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WALTON COUNTY
— U.S. 331 Resurfacing from South of Interstate 10 to U.S. 90
Intermittent and alternating lane closures are expected on U.S. 331 from Coy Burgess Road to U.S. 90, and from 18th Street to 11th Street on U.S. 90, Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving.
- The U.S. 331 northbound outside right-turn lane remains closed at the U.S. 90 intersection. One northbound left-turn lane and one shared lane for left- and right-turns remain open.
- The U.S. 90 westbound outside lane between 11th Street and U.S. 331 is also closed, with one travel lane and one left-turn lane remaining open.

Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving work.
— Baldwin Avenue Routine Bridge Maintenance over U.S. 331
Intermittent east- and westbound lane closures are scheduled south of U.S. 90 on Friday, October 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled. According to the FDOT, drivers should use caution when traveling through work zones, especially at night, and watch for workers and equipment entering and exiting roadways.
