NICEVILLE, Fla. — Okaloosa County has announced that White Point Road and Lakeshore Drive, located east of Niceville in Bluewater, will be closed to through traffic on Saturday afternoons beginning May 28, 2022.

For the fifth year in a row, the seasonal closure will take place between the approximate hours of noon to 6 p.m., the county has announced.

The closure will repeat itself every Saturday until Labor Day, ending on September 3, 2022, according to Okaloosa County.

The closure is aimed at maintaining traffic safety. The road closures are meant to relieve traffic congestion brought about by tourists following electronic traffic instructions and taking a detour through residential neighborhoods on their way to the Mid-Bay Bridge and tourist destinations on the south side of the bridge.
