The best musicians on the Gulf Coast come together in Niceville every week to take part in the free jazz performance, Matt’s Jazz Jam.
The jazz sessions are held Tuesdays, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Joey’s Italian Grill.
“In the spirit of real jazz and improvisation, we explore new musical ideas every week,” said Matt McCarty, musician and organizer of the event. “Whether playing jazz standards or new original tunes, we put our own unique style on the music to keep it fresh and exciting every week.”
A number of professional musicians and accomplished students of the craft sit in during the weekly sessions, and others with an interest are welcome, McCarty said.
Admission is free to all spectators and musicians. Student musicians under 18 should contact McCarty for prior approval because the jam takes place in the restaurant’s bar area.
Joey’s Italian Grill is located in the Palm Plaza, 1021 John Sims Parkway.
