Officers with the Niceville Police Department responded around 5:22 a.m. on March 7 to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm discharged inside a residence.

Investigators said a female suspect had fled the scene with a 9-month-old child, and her location was unknown at the time officers arrived.

Police later identified the suspect as Shaniyah Monah Carmichael.

According to the Niceville Police Department, Ms Carmichael reportedly arrived at the residence of her estranged ex-husband at approximately 4 a.m. and allegedly forced her way into a bedroom while armed with a firearm.
