OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. – A Fort Walton Beach man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Destin, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) has announced.
Jack Colton, 58, of Beal Parkway, is charged with sexual assault with a victim between the ages of 12 and 18, the OCSO said.
According to the OCSO, deputies tracked down Colton and took him into custody around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The arrest followed a report by the girl in which she claimed she was drugged and assaulted multiple times at a hotel room on Highway 98 East in Destin in the prior 24 hours.
Deputies said the girl reported that she asked Colton for a cigarette, and he reportedly gave the girl what she believed to be crystal methamphetamine before the numerous sexual acts.
She was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. Potential evidence was reportedly found in the hotel room, and a truck was also seized, the OCSO said.
Colton reportedly told OCSO Investigators he believed the victim was 23 years old.
“The leadup to this arrest involved great teamwork by our patrol deputies, criminal investigations division, street crimes, K9, and drone units,” said Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden.
