Former Niceville High student returns as principal

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Okaloosa County School Board has approved new administrative appointments, including a new principal for Niceville High School.

Amy Meyer has been appointed principal of Niceville High School following a vote at the April 27, 2026, School Board meeting.

Ms Meyer grew up in a military family and spent most of her life in Niceville. She attended schools in the Okaloosa County School District and graduated from Niceville High School.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.

Ms Meyer began her career in education at Valparaiso Elementary School, where she taught kindergarten through second grade in self-contained Exceptional Student Education classrooms.

She later joined Niceville High School, where she continued working in ESE before transitioning to teaching Algebra I, Geometry, and Intensive Math.

During her time at Niceville High, Ms Meyer served as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor, was named Teacher of the Year, and earned National Board Certification.

Ms Meyer later moved into school administration, serving as assistant principal at Destin Elementary School before becoming its principal.

According to the Okaloosa County School District, she is returning to Niceville High School after several years in elementary education.

She said she is excited to return to “the Nest,” where her career in education began.

The School Board also approved the appointments of Angelique Cox as assistant principal at Crestview High School and Kaleigh Gross as assistant principal at Edge Elementary School.
