OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — An 86-year-old woman who went missing while walking her son’s dog was rescued thanks to the animal’s instincts and an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputy.

According to the OCSO, deputies were called after the woman’s husband reported she had not returned home. The woman had reportedly fallen and injured herself while out for a walk.

Deputy Devon Miller responded to the scene and began searching the area with the help of the dog, Eeyore. Body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows how Eeyore guided the deputy to the woman’s location.

“You’re such a good boy! Grandma loves you,” the woman can be heard saying to the dog after being located, according to the video.

The OCSO said Deputy Miller has been with the agency for just over two years, beginning as a cadet before becoming a deputy. She was also recognized earlier this year for rescuing a cat from a drainage ditch in Destin.
