US HIGHWAY 98, Fla.—Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast should be prepared for potential delays and traffic disruptions this week due to ongoing construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This comprehensive advisory compiles FDOT’s latest updates for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information before you hit the road.

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through Friday, May 31.

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on U.S. 98, between Pier Park Drive and Gulf Boulevard, from Monday, May 13, through Thursday, May 16, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be placing drainage beneath the existing roadway.

— U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures for asphalt paving activities from Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17.

The Wharf 850 Niceville, Florida

WALTON COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent alternating lane closures, Sunday, May 12 through Thursday, May 16, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and signalization work at U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A.

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures from Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sod work.

— U.S. 98 Trune Lane Operations at the New Los Rancheros West of Hunters Road
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures for turn lane operations on Wednesday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, May 12 through Thursday, May 16, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for concrete work.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, May 12, through Friday, May 17, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations

— U.S. 98 Turn Lane Operations West of Moll Drive
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, May 13, through Thursday, May 16, from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. for turn lane operations.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

No FDOT advisories were issued.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
