WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—A teenage boy has been charged with attempted murder following an investigation into a shooting in Mossy Head that reportedly injured a child.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said it arrested a 15-year-old from Mossy Head on Wednesday following the execution of a search warrant.
According to the WCSO, on May 8, investigators with its Criminal Investigation Bureau searched a home on West Violet Lane. The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the alleged shooting of an 11-year-old in the early morning hours on May 2 on West Cypress Avenue.
The teen is charged with attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied dwelling, using a two-way communication device in the commission of a felony, and tampering with evidence.
Since the day of the shooting, the WCSO said investigators have worked diligently to gather additional evidence leading up to the execution of the search warrant early Wednesday morning.
After several hours of interviews were conducted with numerous individuals, investigators said they were able to link the boy to the shooting, where more than two dozen shots were allegedly fired.
The 15-year-old was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail and subsequently taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview.
