Destin Commons announces H&M and Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill to anchor 2014 expansion

Uncle Buck's, Destin Commons

Destin Commons, Northwest Florida’s premier open-air lifestyle center, recently announced H&M and Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill will anchor its 100,000-square-foot expansion targeted to open in mid-2014.

Construction is underway on the approximately 20,000-square-foot H&M store, which will be located across from Sephora at the expansion’s northeast corner. The first H&M in Northwest Florida will include collections for ladies, men, young ladies, young men and children, with a separate “store within store” section for accessories.

Uncle Buck’s, a concept by Bass Pro Shops that offers casual dining and 16 lanes of bowling, will be located on the south end of the expansion near the corner of US Highway 98 and Danny Wuerffel Way (Mid-Bay Bridge Road). The space is also approximately 20,000 square feet.

Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill features a truly unique atmosphere and design geared for family fun and dining. An island-theme bar area offers visitors the experience of feeling like they are underwater exploring the skeletal remains of a sunken ship. A host of exotic fish ‘swim’ in and around the wreck while Dorado and sharks, suspended from the ceiling, appear to swim overhead.

Destin Commons General Manager Bob Perry said the expansion will include about 20 additional stores and restaurants, with announcements expected through the rest of 2013.

“As always, our goal is to introduce nationally recognized retailers and restaurants to the Northwest Florida region,” Perry said. “Our visitors will enjoy the expanded entertainment and shopping options, making Destin Commons an even more attractive family destination.”

Architecturally, the expansion will be seamlessly integrated with the existing Destin Commons shopping district but with slightly lower elevations. The project extends from the lifestyle center’s clock tower and playground area to the southwest corner of the property.

Jacksonville-based contractor Elkins Contracting is overseeing construction.
