Delays expected on US 98 across the Emerald Coast this week

US HIGHWAY 98, Fla.—Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast should be prepared for potential delays and traffic disruptions this week due to ongoing construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This comprehensive advisory compiles FDOT’s latest updates for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information before you hit the road.

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98, west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive- Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through September.

— U.S. 98, Widening from east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard
Alf Coleman Road northbound drivers will encounter a lane closure at the U.S. 98 intersection on Monday, Aug. 12, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be conducting traffic signal maintenance.

— U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway), Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures from Sunday, Aug. 11, through Thursday, Aug. 15, during asphalt paving activities.

WALTON COUNTY:

No construction-related traffic impacts are anticipated for this week.

OKALOOSA COUNTY:

— Brooks Bridge, Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road, Sunday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 15, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities.

— U.S. 98, Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach from Sunday, Aug. 11, through Thursday, Aug. 15, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work and paving operations.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY:

— U.S. 98, Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, Aug. 11, through Friday, Aug. 16, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations

— U.S. 98, Turn Lane Operations from Village Parkway to Bergren Road
Motorists will encounter intermittent eastbound outside lane closures from Sunday, Aug. 11, through Thursday, Aug. 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for turn lane constriction.

No construction-related traffic impacts are anticipated for this week.
