COVID cases triple this week in Okaloosa schools

NICEVILLE, Fla. – The Okaloosa County School District has reported the number of COVID-19 cases among students now totals 679, triple the number of cumulative cases reported last week. The number of cases among teachers and staff totals 59, up from 34 last week.

According to the August 25 report, there are 452 newly reported student cases countywide. Last week, there were 132 new student cases and a cumulative total of 227.

There are 114 total cases in schools in Niceville and Valparaiso, up from 41. Please note that the school district updates the spreadsheet weekly, so the August 25 report is only available for a short time.

Crestview High has the highest number of student cases at 122, up from 44 last week.

The school district has partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County to identify positive cases for both students and staff. The report is for the period Tuesday, August 10 – Wednesday, Aug. 25.
