OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is advising drivers to expect lane closures and traffic disruptions across Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities through the end of January.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, January 25, through Thursday, January 29, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities at the following locations:
- Santa Rosa Boulevard from U.S. 98 to Ross Marler Park, with signage and traffic flaggers in place
- U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road
— State Road 85 Resurfacing Project
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on State Road 85 from U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue Sunday, January 25, through Thursday, January 29, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for manhole and valve adjustments.
— Interstate 10 eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvement Project
Truck parking at the Interstate 10 eastbound rest area at mile marker 59 is temporarily closed for a 120-day period and is scheduled to reopen in mid-February 2026. Passenger vehicle parking and rest area facilities will remain open during construction.
— U.S. 98 Resurfacing Project
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98 from the Santa Rosa County line to west of Josie Road Sunday, January 25, through Thursday, January 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for median improvements.
— State Road 85 Improvements
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on State Road 85 between State Road 123 and the Shoal River Bridge, Monday, January 26, through Friday, January 30, as crews place thermoplastic striping.
- Northbound closures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Southbound closures are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WALTON COUNTY
— Western Lake Bridge Replacement
Drivers may encounter temporary County Road 30A traffic stoppages near the Western Lake Bridge Sunday, January 25, through Saturday, January 31, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Delays are expected to last less than 15 minutes. Intermittent flagging will guide vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone.
— U.S. 90 Paving Operation
Motorists may encounter intermittent westbound lane closures on U.S. 90 east of Clint Mason Road Tuesday, January 27, through Thursday, January 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews install a paved entrance.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather. FDOT urges drivers to use caution, especially at night, and remain alert for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
