BAY COUNTY, Fla. — Motorists will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay County as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Ironman Triathlon 2022 – The Ironman Triathlon will be held Saturday, May 7, 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be aware of slow-moving traffic, be alert, use caution, and watch for runners and bicyclists along the following routes:
- Run – Starts at Edgewater Beach Resort, traveling west on Middle Beach Road (State Road (S.R.) 392), east on Front Beach Road back to Edgewater Beach Resort.
- Bike – Starts at Edgewater Beach Resort traveling west on U.S. 98 (Front Beach Road), north on S.R. 79, U-turns at Obies Street in Washington County, south on S.R. 79 to U.S. 98 (Front Beach Road) back to Edgewater Beach Resort.
S.R. 390 Widening from Jenks Avenue to S.R. 77
Kentucky Avenue remains closed at the S.R. 390 intersection. Drivers may use either West 18th Street or Carolina Avenue for access to S.R. 390. S.R. 77 pedestrian traffic is shifted to the east side of the roadway near the S.R. 390 intersection. The sidewalk on the west side of S.R. 77 is closed from the S.R. 390 intersection to 17th Street. Pedestrians may cross to the sidewalk on the east side of S.R. 77 at either the S.R. 390 or 17th Street intersection.
U.S. 98/Tyndall Air Force Base Flyover
U.S. 98 westbound traffic, from Louisiana Avenue to Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue, is shifted slightly to the north so work may continue on the travel lanes above the two intersections. No oversized permit loads are permitted while this lane shift is in place.
U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from the Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Motorists will encounter intermittent shoulder closures the week of Monday, May 9, for drainage and sidewalk operations.
S.R. 79 Routine Bridge Inspection over the Intracoastal Water Way
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures 5.1 miles north of U.S. 98A, Wednesday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a routine bridge inspection.
