Heather Dickison was arrested on March 28 in Bay County on an outstanding warrant stemming from the March 6, 2024, crash. According to FHP, Ms Dickison was the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 that struck and killed a Santa Rosa Beach pedestrian jogging along the shoulder of the highway.

The victim, who jogged the same route daily, was reportedly wearing reflective running gear when Dickison’s vehicle veered off the roadway and crossed the north fog line, striking the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Dickison is said to have fled the crash.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant through Walton County after identifying Ms Dickison as the alleged driver. The FHP said she was aware of the warrant and failed to surrender.

A traffic stop was conducted in Bay County on a vehicle she occupied. Ms Dickison was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Bay County Jail, where she awaits extradition to Walton County.

She is charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death.
