Air Force officials recently announced that Eglin Air Force Base has been named a finalist for the Commander-in-Chief’s 2016 Annual Award for Installation Excellence.
The award recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain U.S. military installations, and who have done the best with their resources to support the mission. Each year one installation from each service branch is selected for this honor.
“Team Eglin, congratulations and thank you for making our installation one of the top two installations in the Air Force,” said Brig. Gen. Christopher Azzano, 96th Test Wing commander. “With the honor comes the challenge of presenting Team Eglin to the Installation Excellence Selection Board in a way that will secure victory.”
“Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees,” said Lt. Gen. John Cooper, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection. “The outstanding contributions, innovations and commitment to excellence of our Airmen who operate and maintain our installations supporting the Air Force mission were clearly evident in the submissions. By rewarding efforts that create enhancements to base-level services, facilities, and quality-of-life, we encourage the fulfillment of our core Air Force values.”
An inspection team will visit Eglin Jan. 14-15. The winners are traditionally announced in the spring.
