OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Okaloosa County will unveil a new Charters of Freedom monument at the Crestview Courthouse on November 3, featuring replicas of historic American documents that helped shape the nation’s government and civil rights.
The unveiling ceremony will take place immediately following the regular Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners meeting, with the ceremony expected to begin between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The monument features stainless-steel replicas of the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Civil Rights Amendments.
Foundation Forward Inc., a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization, donated the documents and has provided similar displays to communities in 17 states, according to Okaloosa County officials.
“This monument brings our attention to the lasting impacts these documents have had on our country,” said Okaloosa County Board Chairman Trey Goodwin.
“Okaloosa County has a tradition of living and exercising the American values inscribed in this generously donated display. It is only fitting that we recognize this tradition with a lasting tribute like this.”

The Crestview monument is one of two Charters of Freedom displays being established in Okaloosa County.
A second monument, located at Women Veterans Park, is scheduled to be unveiled during the county’s Veterans Day event on November 11.
The monuments are intended to provide permanent, publicly accessible displays of documents central to American history, government and individual rights.

The November 3 ceremony at the Crestview Courthouse and the November 11 unveiling at Women Veterans Park will give Okaloosa County residents two opportunities to see the new monuments formally dedicated.
