FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — A Niceville resident has been recognized by Eglin Federal Credit Union as its Five-Star Performer for the second quarter of 2026.
Eglin Federal Credit Union announced that Facilities/Procurement Specialist Andrew Funk received the quarterly employee recognition, which honors employees who exemplify the credit union’s core values of being respectful, trustworthy, dedicated, proactive, and engaged.
Mr Funk joined Eglin FCU on May 13, 2025, as a full-time Facilities/Procurement Assistant. He was promoted to Facilities/Procurement Specialist in November 2025, less than six months later, according to the credit union.
Coworkers nominated Funk for consistently going above and beyond in his role by supporting multiple departments, stepping in wherever needed and proactively addressing challenges throughout the organization.
Eglin FCU said he is known for his calm, considerate and professional demeanor, positive attitude and willingness to help others. The credit union said his contributions have earned praise from employees throughout the organization, including President/CEO Cathie Staton.
“Anyone who has interacted with Andrew can easily see why he earned this recognition,” said Marketing Communications Manager Kathey Mitchell. “He is the kind of person who quietly makes a difference every day. While ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes, he also takes the time to connect with others and offer help whenever it’s needed.
She said Mr Funk sees things that others may overlook and always does the right thing, even when it isn’t the easiest choice.
“His integrity, initiative and genuine concern for others are evident in everything he does, and I couldn’t be more proud to have him on our team.”
Senior Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Coale said Funk’s ability to build meaningful relationships across the organization has made him a valued member of the team.
“One of the things I appreciate most about Andrew is his ability to build meaningful connections with people across the organization,” Ms Coale said. “Every interaction with him is marked by kindness, authenticity and often a good laugh. He has a way of making people feel comfortable while never losing sight of the work that needs to be done.”
She added that his balance of professionalism, positivity and genuine care for others is what makes Funk so deserving of this recognition.
The Five-Star Performer Award is Eglin FCU’s quarterly employee recognition program. Employees are nominated by coworkers through written submissions describing how they demonstrate the credit union’s values.
Mr Funk said he was surprised by the recognition and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside his colleagues.
“I was genuinely caught off guard by this honor, which is saying something since I usually know what’s going on around here,” Mr Funk said.
“I am very thankful for this recognition, but even more thankful for the opportunity to work with so many wonderful, hardworking and kind people. It’s great to be part of the Eglin FCU family, and I’m excited to keep learning, growing and helping wherever I can.”
