OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Community members are invited to help local students prepare for the new school year by donating school supplies during the annual Stuff the Bus campaign on Saturday, August 1.
The school supply drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walmart stores in Crestview, Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Niceville. The event takes place during Florida’s back-to-school tax-free month, giving shoppers an opportunity to purchase and donate needed classroom supplies for students throughout Okaloosa County.
Organizers said the annual campaign helps ensure students have the essential supplies they need to begin the school year ready to learn.
In addition to the Aug. 1 event, donation boxes will be placed at businesses throughout Okaloosa County to expand collection efforts. Additional collection sites will be announced as they are confirmed on the Okaloosa County School District website and its official Facebook page.
Stuff the Bus is a partnership among the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, the Okaloosa County School District and The Salvation Army Florida Division – Fort Walton Beach Corps. Organizers said the annual effort helps provide essential school supplies to students and families across the county, ensuring they begin the school year ready to learn.
