MARY ESTHER, Fla. — A Mary Esther man was arrested after investigators determined a bullet struck an occupied vehicle during a shots-fired incident along Miracle Strip Parkway.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Thursday to the area of 531 E. Miracle Strip Parkway after receiving reports of gunfire.
During the investigation, deputies learned a nearby vehicle’s tire had been struck by a round. The driver told deputies he heard yelling coming from the area before hearing a loud bang and later discovering that a tire had been punctured.
Investigators recovered evidence from the vehicle and identified a suspect through witness statements and other evidence gathered during the investigation.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was identified as John Christian Sutton of Mary Esther.
Mr Sutton was charged with shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and criminal mischief.
No injuries were reported.
