FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County has issued a water quality advisory for a popular local park after tests reportedly found elevated bacteria levels that may pose a risk to swimmers.

The advisory applies to Liza Jackson Park, located at 338 Miracle Strip Parkway SW in Fort Walton Beach.
According to the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa), water samples collected on April 29, indicated that the site does not meet recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria.
DOH-Okaloosa advises against any water-related activities at the park due to an increased risk of illness.
The health department said routine monitoring showed bacteria levels exceeding those established by state guidelines.

The advisory is expected to remain in place until bacteria levels fall below the accepted health threshold.
Test results and updates are available through the Florida Department of Health’s Healthy Beaches program.
