NICEVILLE, Fla. — Residents may continue to hear aircraft noise through April 23 as night flying operations remain underway at Eglin Air Force Base, according to Eglin officials.

The 58th and 60th Fighter Squadrons began the training earlier this month, with missions scheduled over a three-week period.

During the final week of operations, flights are scheduled between 8:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.

Eglin Air Force Base said night flying is a required part of training to ensure aircrews are prepared for real-world missions.

Residents in surrounding communities may notice increased jet activity —known locally as the Sound of Freedom—during the evening hours as the training continues.
