CRESTVIEW, Fla. — A major new roadway designed to improve traffic flow in north Okaloosa County will open May 1, the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners has announced.

The Southwest Crestview Bypass will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 1 on the newly completed bridge near U.S. Highway 90 and Enzor Road.
The Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners said the project is part of a broader effort involving the Florida Department of Transportation, Triumph Gulf Coast, and the City of Crestview to address congestion in the area.
Motorists will be able to begin using the bypass at noon following the ceremony.
The new roadway is expected to provide improved access to homes, businesses, and Pineview School.

Drivers will be able to access the bypass from Antioch Road on the west, State Road 85 on the east, and U.S. Highway 90 from the north.
“The vision for this project was recognized years ago by County, City, and community leaders who led the way to blaze this new trail for our residents,” said Okaloosa County Board Chairman Trey Goodwin.
“I can’t thank our staff and Anderson Columbia enough for all of the great work that has been done and all those who helped piece together the funding for this extraordinary project.”
County officials said the project aligns with ongoing improvements by the Florida Department of Transportation, including the Interstate 10 interchange project at P.J. Adams Parkway.

Once completed, the interchange will connect to the bypass, providing additional traffic routes around Crestview and improved access to Interstate 10.
The Southwest Crestview Bypass was completed in phases at a total cost of about $212 million, funded through a combination of state transportation grants, local infrastructure surtax funds, FDOT work program funds, and support from Triumph Gulf Coast.
