NICEVILLE, Fla. — A driver who reportedly reached 100 miles per hour near State Roads 85 and 123 north of Niceville was stopped and taken to jail by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) shared the incident while warning motorists about the dangers of extreme speeding on local roads.
According to the OCSO, the driver was clocked traveling about 100 mph in the area before deputies intervened.
Speeds like that significantly increase the risk of serious crashes and fatalities, especially on busy public roadways, the OCSO said.
Florida’s newer laws targeting excessive speeding give deputies stronger tools to stop drivers who treat roadways like racetracks, the OCSO said.
