NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Okaloosa County School Board has approved Brittany Young as the new principal of Walker Elementary School in Crestview.
According to the Okaloosa County School District, the appointment was approved during the School Board’s February 9 meeting.
Young is a graduate of Crestview High School and earned an associate degree from Northwest Florida State College. She later received a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida and returned to complete a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
District officials said Ms Young has more than a decade of classroom teaching experience, including Intensive Reading, Leadership, Theatre, and English. While teaching Intensive Reading, she was recognized as a high-impact educator in Florida based on student achievement data.
According to the district, Young also pursued administrative experience through campus and extracurricular leadership roles. Those efforts reportedly included coordinating Homecoming events, coaching cheerleading, and working with community partners in Crestview.
Ms Young has served as assistant principal at Walker Elementary for the past several years. District officials said her work has focused on strengthening family and community engagement while maintaining academic and instructional standards.
District officials also noted Young and her husband both work as educators within the Okaloosa County School District. The couple has two children enrolled in district schools.
