OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers should expect overnight lane closures and traffic disruptions this week as construction and maintenance projects continue across Okaloosa and Walton counties, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, January 11, through Thursday, January 15, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities along Santa Rosa Boulevard from U.S. 98 to Ross Marler Park and on U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone.
— Interstate 10 eastbound rest area and truck parking improvement project
Truck parking at the Interstate 10 eastbound rest area near mile marker 59 is temporarily closed for a 120-day period and is scheduled to reopen in mid-February 2026. Passenger vehicle parking and rest area facilities will remain open during construction.
— U.S. 98 resurfacing project
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, January 12, through Friday, January 16, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. between the Santa Rosa County line and west of Josie Road as crews complete median improvements.
— State Road 85 improvements
Intermittent lane closures are scheduled between State Road 123 and the Shoal River Bridge, Monday, January 12, through Friday, January 16, as crews place thermoplastic striping. Northbound closures are planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with southbound closures from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WALTON COUNTY
— U.S. 331 resurfacing project
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on U.S. 331 between Live Oak Avenue and U.S. 90 on Sunday, January 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for paving operations and signage installation. Additional intermittent and alternating lane closures are scheduled Sunday, January 11, through Thursday, January 15, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on U.S. 331 between U.S. 90 and Bruce Avenue, as well as on U.S. 90 between Sloss Avenue and 12th Street.
— Western Lake Bridge replacement
Temporary County Road 30A traffic stoppages are expected near the Western Lake Bridge Sunday, January 11, through Saturday, January 17, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Delays are expected to last less than 15 minutes, with intermittent flagging in place to guide vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone.
All work schedules are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather. FDOT urges drivers to use caution, especially at night, and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
