The WCSO said deputies responded on Dec. 20 to a reckless driving call involving a lifted black truck reportedly swerving in and out of traffic on U.S. Highway 331 South.

Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at a Publix shopping center near Marquis Way, the sheriff’s office said.

During the stop, the driver, identified as Dustin Wayne Bryant, 43, of Freeport, consented to a search of the vehicle, according to the WCSO.

Deputies reportedly found approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine inside a pill bottle, along with a glass pipe and multiple loaded firearms, including a handgun and two rifles.

Mr Bryant was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine over 14 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the sheriff’s office said.

Bryant was transported to the Walton County Jail and was released the following day after posting a $50,000 bond.

More Crime/Public Safety

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Mr Bryant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
