MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — A woman has been arrested after deputies uncovered what is said to be a multi-state retail theft scheme involving Lululemon merchandise across several Northwest Florida stores, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) announced.
According to the WCSO, the investigation began when Grand Boulevard maintenance personnel located a bag containing anti-theft devices and a receipt from a nearby grocery store. The WCSO said the receipt enabled deputies to obtain an image of the shopper and begin tracking her movements.
FLOCK technology reportedly showed the woman’s vehicle traveling the previous day to Lululemon locations in Grayton Beach, Grand Boulevard, and Destin Commons. Stores confirmed she had been inside and was alleged to have used anti-theft tools to bypass security alarms.
Hours later, the WCSO said Grand Boulevard staff called again after the same woman returned and attempted to bring back large quantities of Lululemon merchandise without a receipt or identification.
Deputies observed the suspect in the parking lot as she loaded additional bags into her vehicle. Inside, deputies reportedly found roughly $2,000 worth of unpaid merchandise from the Grand Boulevard Lululemon store. Items believed to be linked to other thefts in Destin and Grayton Beach were also discovered.
The suspect was identified as Kiara Shamboria Simmons, 36, of Coconut Creek, Florida.
Additional items found in Ms Simmons’ vehicle reportedly included tools used to block anti-theft sensors, multiple identification cards belonging to other women, refund and exchange receipts from Texas, and documentation suggesting suspicious Lululemon returns in Tennessee.
The WCSO said the evidence indicates this was part of a broader retail theft pattern, and Simmons’ criminal history is said to support that assessment.
Ms Simmons was arrested and charged. Her phone and additional property were submitted into evidence, and the WCSO said the case appears to be part of a larger multi-state investigation.
She was issued a $10,000 bond and remained incarcerated at the time of the sheriff’s office announcement.
