The evening event highlighted Edge’s long-standing role as a cornerstone of the Niceville community. Families, staff, alumni, and former school leaders gathered to reflect on the rich history of the school and its impact on students and families over the past century.

For Superintendent Marcus Chambers, the anniversary carries personal meaning. Both of his children began their education at Edge, and he described the school as a place defined by care, connection, and strong community values.

“Edge Elementary will always hold a special place in my heart,” Mr Chambers said.

“This school represents everything right about public education: students who are loved and valued, teachers who are dedicated, and a community that cares deeply about its children.”

The Okaloosa County School District (OCSD) said the celebration welcomed former principals and their families, creating an opportunity to honor the leaders who helped shape Edge’s legacy. Current Principal Melissa Kearley was also recognized for carrying forward the school’s commitment to student success.

The district described the centennial as more than a look back, characterizing it as a celebration of the values that define Okaloosa County: dedicated educators, supportive families, community partnerships, and a shared belief in the importance of public education.
