FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) this morning issued a water quality health advisory for Garniers Beach Park after recent testing showed elevated levels of bacteria, the agency announced.

According to DOH-Okaloosa, samples taken on Monday, October 13, indicated that the water at Garniers Beach Park, located at 257 Beachview Drive NE, does not meet the state’s recommended recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria.

Health officials said Clemente E. Taylor Park was not sampled this week because it remains closed for renovations.

Residents and visitors are advised to avoid swimming or engaging in other water activities at Garniers Beach Park until follow-up testing confirms that water quality has returned to safe levels.

Test results and additional details are available through the Florida Healthy Beaches Program.

For more information, contact DOH-Okaloosa at 850-833-9247 or visit the Okaloosa County Health Department’s website.
