OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — A 69-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly firing a gun at a family member during a domestic dispute, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced.

The incident took place Saturday on Sioux Circle. Deputies say Linda Taxter fired a shot at a relative during an argument and then refused to exit the home when law enforcement arrived.

Concerned for her well-being, the OCSO Special Response Team breached the door and took Ms Taxter into custody.

She was initially transported to a local hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted wound and then to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.
