WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—The U.S. 98 widening project in Walton County has concluded.
On Friday, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) said it has completed a $16.7 million project to widen and improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A.
According to the FDOT, improvements included:
- Widening U.S. 98 from four to six travel lanes
- Constructing new sidewalks on the north side of U.S. 98 and a new 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the south side of the roadway
- Intersection improvements and upgraded pedestrian crossings at the three signalized intersections to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements
- Drainage improvements
