FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — A woman was shot in the back yesterday at a home on Dale Place near Fort Walton Beach. She is expected to survive, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO)

Deputies responded to the shooting call around 11 a.m.

The victim was reportedly in the process of moving out and had her back turned when she says 87-year-old Robert Rice shot her without saying a word.

Rice is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
