SHALIMAR, Fla. — Two Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) deputies who were part of a team effort to save the life of a choking four-year-old child were recognized this week with OCSO Certificates of Commendation.
Sgt. Richard McCoy and Deputy Amy Ates worked alongside Corporal Kristen Genrich and Captain Todd Watkins when the little girl swallowed a plastic marker cap and began to have trouble breathing, also providing comfort to the child’s mother as the effort was underway on scene and at the hospital.
Genrich and Watkins recently received OCSO Life Saving Awards.
