BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — Lt. Col. Mikita Brown took command of the 605th Test and Evaluation Squadron, Detachment 3 during a virtual assumption of command ceremony at Beale Air Force Base, California, April 9.

As the commander, Lt. Col. Brown will lead a 35-member detachment responsible for the operational test and evaluation of the Department of the Air Force’s next-generation command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.

“I am humbled at the privilege to serve the distinguished and elite professionals of the 605th TES, Det. 3 – who are dedicated to bringing cutting-edge command and control solutions to joint warfighters across the globe,” said Lt. Col. Mikita Brown, commander 605th TES, Det 3.

Brown continued, “It is an honor beyond expression to lead at any level during this pivotal moment for the Department of the Air Force – as we push the throttle forward to fuel technology through rapid capability releases to ensure both Joint and Combined Air Forces – have the ability to Accelerate and Change; when losing is not an option.”

Det 3 serves as Air Combat Command’s test organization for Common Mission Control Center. The CMCC is an advanced tactical battle management C2 prototype designed for use in the contested, degraded environment. The CMCC is intended to become a member of the Theater Air Control System.

Lt. Col. Mikita Brown’s previous assignment was chief of combat operations, 613th Air Operation Center, Pacific Air Forces, at the historic Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. As the chief of combat operations, she drove the execution of orders, intent, and guidance for the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, while directing 24/7 watch procedures of planned and dynamic operations across the world’s largest theater.

Lt. Col. Brown’s joint-officer expertise proved to be an invaluable attribute for her roles and responsibilities as the Lead Action Officer for Joint All-Domain Operations, Joint All-Domain Command and Control, and OSD’s Long Range Fires initiative.

“As we rise to meet the challenges today and tomorrow, the CMCC’s are nested with the CSAF’s [Chief of Staff of the Air Force] “A.B.C.D.”  Action Order,” said Lt. Col. Brown.

“Our first priority is to stimulate and empower Airmen towards aspirational innovation goals and secondly drive the delivery of decision quality data to inform Design Implementation for C/JADC2 and Global Integrated Operations. When done right, Identifying Bureaucracy and advancing Competition are natural outcomes of our top two priorities.”

“I am inspired by the CSAF’s Avengers: Endgame analogy. It highlights the strength of convergence gained from teams of mixed specialties and diverse backgrounds, such as the CMCC, where unique talents are amplified through integration and synergy,” remarked Brown.

“We’re excited to have Lt. Col. Brown join the 605th TES command team-leading Det 3,” said Lt. Col. Carly Sims, 605th TES Commander, Hurlburt Field Florida.

“Her extensive experience with C/JADC2 will be instrumental in continuing to expand the operating concepts and drive the advancement of the latest advanced command and control systems in support of National Defense Strategy efforts to build a more lethal force.”

The 605th TES, Det 3 is one of three detachments, and an operating location, assigned to the 605th TES, located at Hurlburt Field, Florida, and a subordinate unit of the 505th Test and Training Group, and the 505th Command and Control Wing, both headquartered on Hurlburt Field, Florida.
