March 28 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Monday reported 15 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are five new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

Vaccine data for March 28 had not been announced as of Monday morning.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,719.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 351, three more deaths since the previous report.

Statewide, 4,943 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,044,005 The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 33,178.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 248 test results returned in Okaloosa with 15 positives. The daily positivity rate is 6.05 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 5.12 percent for the week ending March 27, down from 6.1 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.6 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
