March 14 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Sunday reported 25 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are four new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 83 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 32,701. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 20,862, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,452.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 341, two more deaths since the previous report.

Statewide, 3,699 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,976,808. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 32,255.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 694, no change since the previous day. Currently, there are 11 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 390 test results returned in Okaloosa with 27 positives. The daily positivity rate is 6.92 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 7.9 percent for the week ending March 13, down from 11.26 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 5.8 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
