February 9 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Tuesday reported 60 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 11 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 541 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 17,651.  The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 5,352, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 17,587.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 299, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 7,023 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,790,743. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 28,048.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 649, five more since the previous day. Currently, there are 47 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Local update on statewide pre-registration for COVID-19 vaccination

According to the FDOH, since the previous report there were 655 test results returned in Okaloosa with 61 positives. The daily positivity rate is 9.31 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.54 percent for the week ending Feb. 6, down from 19.87 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.0 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
